  1. All vehicles in the State of Florida are required to have Florida Insurance with at least the bare minimum coverage which is $10,000 personal injury protection (PIP) and $10,000 property damage liability (PDL) along with a valid Florida tag.
  2. PIP insurance covers the driver who has been in an accident, regardless of who's at fault up to $10,000 in medical expenses. Family members living with the driver and passengers in the vehicle are also covered under the PIP policy. It also will reimburse you and your family for lost wages. It is mandatory.
  3. PDL coverage pays for damages to the other people's property in a crash involving a motor vehicle if you or a member of your family are at fault and liable. It is mandatory.
  4. Underinsured/Uninsured Motorist coverage (UM Insurance) is optional in the State of Florida. When someone says the have "full coverage" it is important to check to see if UM is part of their package. It pays for losses that result in a car accident where the other vehicle is at fault and is either uninsured or not adequately insured for the injuries you have suffered.
  5. Collision coverage is an optional coverage that you can pay for that pays for the damage to your vehicle involved in an accident.
  6. Bodily Injury (BI) coverage pays a party who has been injured when you are at fault. It pays for their pain and suffering.
