Race Discrimination

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects individuals against employment discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex or religion. It is unlawful for an employer to discriminate against someone when he or she is hiring, terminating, promoting, compensating, training, or doing anything else while in the employer/employee setting. Title VII is a strong tool that protects those who find it difficult to act or protect themselves while at work. It is very common for the worker to feel powerless. Yet, Title VII gives you, the worker, power and protection against employers who violate your civil rights.

If there are jobs out there that have policies that may appear neutral on their face but in fact discriminate against a certain group, then that policy would be discriminatory and not allowed. Employers try to do this so as to not seem that they are violating anyone’s rights, but, we at the Law Offices of Alitowski and Moore know all their tricks and will help fight them for you and not allow this backhanded, sly, maneuvers, to keep on discriminating against you.

Even the use of racial jokes and slurs, or offensive and derogatory comments are discriminatory if they make the employee feel intimidated and create a hostile or offensive working environment or interfere with the employee’s work performance.
